
- Exercise declared inconclusive
Two adhoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), have reportedly been declared missing after yesterday’s Bakura constituency bye-election in Zamfara state, The State Online has been told. This was even as the election has been declared inconclusive this morning by the INEC returning officer, Prof. Ibrahim Magawata, in which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was already in clear lead.
Results so far declared showed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Tudu, was coasting to victory with a total number of 18,645 votes, while his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Alhaji Bello Dankande Gamji, had garnered 16,464 votes in a keenly contested election which witnessed a massive turn out.
The INEC returning officer, Prof Magawata, said the election was declared inconclusive as a result of political violence in Yargeda area as well as over-voting in eight polling units in Bakura town, that heralded the exercise.
