
Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede on Thursday, 16th, 2020 paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Bwari Area Council (BAC), of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon John Gabaya.
The current edition of JAMBulletin, made available to The State Online by Dr Fabian Benjami, JAMB Head of Media, said the visit to JAMB’s host Area Council was part of Professor Oloyede’s community outreach programme and also a reciprocation of an earlier visit to him by the Chairman.
During the visit, the JAMB Registrar said the Board as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) had carried out many projects in the Area Council and intended to do more.
Accompanied by the Management of JAMB, the Registrar expressed appreciation to the chairman of the Area Council for the warm reception accorded him and members of his delegation.
He lauded Hon Gabaya on his achievements in the Area Council and assured him that JAMB would continue to impact positively on its host community.
Says Professor Oloyede: “ The Board has committed over 60 million (Naira) to the outreach programme which has witnessed the development of selected schools in Bwari and the expansion of infrastructural facilities, building of blocks of classrooms, provision of double –bunk beds in addition to the deployment of not less than 65 staff to teach in these schools.
He also said the Board had attracted improved telecommunication services to Bwari through persuading telecom companies to extend of fibre optic cables to the Area Council.
Prof Oloyede equally said JAMB had concluded pans to award contract for Bwari Stadium, saying this would open up the Area Council to sporting activities, bring in more investment and encourage tourism.
He further informed the Chairman of the desire of his administration to construct a mega Computer Based Test (CBT) centre there with an estimated capacity of 7,500 candidates per day. The Registrar is of the view that the CBT Centre would boost the economy of Bwari Area Council.
Responding, Hon Gabaya thanked Professor Oloyede, whom he described as a ‘father’, for his landmark achievements at JAMB.
While expressing the appreciation of the Area Council to Professor Oloyede for the contributions of JAMB towards improving the lot of the people, he prayed God to continue to bless and guide him aright.
