…CHARGES MEMBERS TO BE COMMITTED TO SET GOALS

Niger State Governor,  Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello on Tuesday inaugurated two strategic committees to prepare ground for his second term.

The committees are the Project, Policy, Programmes and Appraisal Committee and the Inauguration Committee.

The inauguration took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna, the state capital.

The  Project Policy Programmes and Appraisal Committee is chaired by the Deputy Governor, Alh. Ahmed Muhammed Kesto and the Secretary to the State Government as the Secretary of the committee.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Al-Amin Mikahil Bmitosahi is to head the Inauguration Committee with the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Alh. Ibrahim Isah Rogo as the Secretary of the committee.

Inaugurating the 65-man Projects, Policy’ Programmes and Apprisal Committee, the governor saddled the committee with a 14 point terms of reference, which include, the  identification of government policies and the implementation status; compile all executed and ongoing projects in the last 4 years and appraise the performance of the administration in the last 4 years.

The committee is to identify challenges encountered in the course of project execution in the last 4 years; propose and recommend any further project /activity that will take the state to the next level; review the existing tax base and the internally generated revenue system with a view to expanding as well as deploy the presumptive tax system that targets the informal sectors among others.

It is also to brain storm on new legacy projects achievable within the next four years and recommend feasible and achievable funding and implementation options, while the deputy governor committee is expected to deploy more strategic  and all inclusive programmes aimed at the development of youth and women.

The committee is to review and redesign the governance structure to reflect consolidated portfolio system that eliminate duplication and ineffective use of available resources and to propose ant further projects/activity that will take the state to the next level.

The Governor then called on members of the committee to put in their best as the responsibility demands commitment, adding that they should ensure that all hands are on deck to meet up with the stipulated time frame.

The two committees have since swung into action.
