State Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Balogun who addressed newsmen described the position PDP and Dr.  Saraki saying it is “melodramatic and lacking in merit”.

Making reference to the earlier press conference by the PDP on Friday the APC spokesman said the party found it necessary to respond to what it called trending misinformation.

Balogun said the party’s attention had been drawn to a statement by the PDP and Saraki accusing Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of plotting the charges against Saraki and three others over a 2018 Offa armed robbery incident that claimed the lives of over 30 people.

He said neither Saraki nor the PDP should be concerned if they had no culpability, stressing that courts relied on evidence and facts rather than public statements.

“Rather than resort to personal attacks, the proper thing is for the accused to face trial and allow the court to determine guilt or innocence,” he said.

He described Saraki’s denial of any link to the incident as “deceitful,” adding that available testimonies would be evaluated by the court when proceedings commence.

He said individuals familiar with events of the period would attest to the facts, urging all parties to allow due process to take its course

He commended the APC State Government stressing that it (the government) is ever resolved to pursue justice, adding that the matter “was already before a competent court”.

Balogun said it was the responsibility of the judiciary to determine the case, warning against attempts to influence public opinion through media narratives.
