Two top brasses of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have been jailed for two years for being involved in $1.6billion messy deals.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja, sentenced the officials named Victor Briggs and Abiye Membere, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 over “unethically collecting car gifts,” as alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The officials whose services with the NNPC have already come to an end, were sentenced with an option of two million naira fine each, to be paid immediately to the federal government.
Briggs and Membere are two of the five people standing trial in the $1.6 billion money laundering charge before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Revealing this via its official Twitter page, on Thursday, 9 February, 2023, with the title; “$1.6b Money Laundering Trial: Former Top NNPC Officials Jailed Two Years,” the anti-graft agency said the two officials’ conducts were unbecoming of officers of their caliber, prompting Justice Nnamdi Dimgba to jail them accordingly, having proven the case beyond reasonable doubts./SHARE THIS
