Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Police and Nigeria Immigration Service have rescued a 12 year old Beninois kidnapped and kept in a coffin.
The security operatives in Kaiama, Kwara State who were on a routine patrol when they sighted an unmarked car that aroused suspicions.
It was said that when Immigration officers stopped the unmarked car after it had crossed the Nigeria/Benin Republic border, occupants opened the doors and took to their heels. Their action fuelled suspicions which made the Immigration personnel to beckon to both the police and NSCDC teams asking them to join in carrying out a search on the vehicle.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NSCDC, Mr. Zaid Afolabi, disclosed that the search revealed the twelve year old boy was concealed in a coffin.
According to Afolabi, the minor was “covered him with a piece of white cloth.”
“The boy has been medically examined and found to be fine while further checks revealed that the boy is from a village in Benin Republic,” he noted.
The NSCDC spokesman said the boy had been handed over to the policemen in Benin Republic for further investigations and subsequent reunion with his family.
