Following rising insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory, the Body of Benchers has moved the Call to Bar ceremony from the Law School premises in Bwari to its newly constructed Headquarters in Jabi area of Abuja.
Also, the ceremony was restricted to only those to be called to bar. Parents and well-wishers were asked to watch the ceremony on television stations.
The decision was informed by the security threat in FCT and its environs, especially the killing of eight soldiers of the 7 Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army Presidential Guards Brigade presidential guards in Abuja last Sunday.
The incident took place around the Bwari Area Council of Abuja. Two of the soldiers felled by the terrorists were officers, including a captain and lieutenant, while the remaining were soldiers.
Consequently, on Monday, the government officially shut the Federal Government Colleges in the FCT.
