The Member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency in National Assembly and Chairman House of representatives Committee on Federal Judiciary, Hon. Onofiok Luke has been appointed to serve as a member of the Body of Benchers Nigeria.
This was contained in a letter by the Body of Benchers, Nigeria written to the Chairman House Committee on Judiciary. It stated that the appointment came from a resolution by the Body.
The Body of Benchers is a body of Legal Practitioners of the highest distinction in the legal profession in Nigeria.
The body which comprises senior members of the Judiciary and the Bar including the Chief Justice of Nigeria, all the Justices of the Supreme Court, the President of the Court of Appeal and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice is primarily responsible for the formal call to the Bar of persons seeking to become Legal Practitioners and regulation of the legal profession.
The appointment is with immediate effect.
