The former senator representing River East Senatorial District between 1999 and 2007, John Azuta-Mbata, has emerged as the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the most prominent Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
His emergence followed the election of new executives in Enugu on Friday, and Azuta-Mbata was declared as the new president and leader of the organization.
Azuta-Mbata hails from Rivers State in South-south Nigeria. His election marked a significant milestone in the history of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The election process was conducted via voice voting. Alongside Azuta-Mbata, 15 other individuals were elected to various executive positions within the organisation.
