Three weeks after he was kidnapped in his home, Mr. Adewale Olayinka has regained his freedom from the terrorists.
Adewale, who manages a youth education center, was abducted by armed gunmen on July 25, 2025 in Lagos, the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria.
He was held for three weeks during which his abductors demanded a huge ransom of N100 million.
While negotiation was on, his traumatized family members informed various security agencies for help.
Detectives swung into action and began to track the dangerous gang men who had begun to move their captive from place to place.
However, in the wee hours of August 14, 2025, Adewale’s family paid a ransom of N6 million which the kidnappers asked to be dropped at a bus stop in Igando area of Ikotun Local Government.
Two hours later, the abductors called the family to pick their man at Okokomaiko, near Badagry town.
A visibly distraught Adewale recounted his ordeal before our reporter:
“This experience confirmed that the threats against me were not merely to scare but to exterminate me.
“The dangerous, heavily armed men threatened to kill me if my people did not pay the N100 million ransom they demanded.
“I was worried that individuals connected to community and youth activities like ours could be targeted.”
Based on his horrible experience, Adewale said further that he faces a bleak future as the kidnappers may not relent in their dastardly activities to get him.
After he regained freedom, Adewale claimed that the attackers reportedly threatened to kill his close relatives for not paying the full ransom they demanded.
