Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has said he is not bothered about who becomes the next occupant of the office.
Dogara became Speaker four years ago on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although he was re-elected into the House during the last election into the National Assembly he is not likely to return to the position of Speaker a new House is inaugurated as he has decamped from the majority APC to opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Turaki Hassan, on Sunday in Abuja, said more serious issues are currently occupying the mind of Dogara than the question of who becomes the next Speaker.
“The Speaker is concentrating on accomplishing all he promised in the Legislative Agenda of the House of Representatives.
“Who becomes what in the 9th House of Representatives is not the concern or business of the current Speaker, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara.
“You should please spare him from these unfounded speculations,” Turaki said.
