On his first day in office, Borno’s new Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Thursday summoned a meeting of the state security council scheduled for 4pm at the council chambers of the government house in Maiduguri. The Governor who arrived office at about 11am started by holding a meeting with the General Officer Commanding seven division of the Nigerian Army.
Professor Zulum thereafter held closed door meeting with the state’s traditional rulers led by the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi.
The Governor also met with officials of Borno State Road Maintenance Agency (BORMA) and engineers from government to discuss a major project he intends to begin as part of his vision to eliminate traffic congestion in Maiduguri metropolis.
Professor Zulum is expected to meet permanent secretaries who currently head ministries after taking over affairs from 21 commissioners following the dissolution of the state executive council on Tuesday night by then Governor Kashim Shettima.
