Democracy Day: Buni Calls For Sustained Prayers In Mosques, Churches

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has urged the people of the state to seize the occasion of the Democracy Day, to pray in mosques and churches for improved peace, security and development of the state and nation.
The governor said the Democracy Day occassion should be used to appreciate Almighty Allah for the uninterrupted democratic governance enjoyed in the country.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Governor’s Spokesman, Mallam Mohammed Mamman, which was emailed to our Correspondent on Friday.
Mamman said, Buni observed that democracy has undoubtedly propelled speedy development in Yobe state which has to be sustained and improved upon for the betterment of the state and people.
“Yobe state has moved so fast with lots of programmes and projects executed by various governments which have improved the lives of our people. We should therefore use the occasion to appreciate almighty Allah and promote democracy to thrive stronger.
“Our people have had the opportunity of participating in governance through elected representatives to defend their interests at all levels and this has translated into purposeful governance and development”, the governor said.
He assured that his administration will promote democracy, healthy competition, rule of law and equality.
Buni however urged the people to remain law abiding, promote peaceful coexistence and be vigilant on issues that are inimical to peace.
He expressed optimism that in spite of the challenges faced by the country, Nigeria will emerge stronger.
