The 36 states and the federal capital territory generated ₦612.87 as internally generated revenue (IGR) between January and June 2020
This was revealed by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, on the states’ IGR for the first half of 2020 published today.
This was a drop of 11.7 per cent from the ₦693.9 billion generated by the states in the corresponding period in 2019.
According to NBS, Lagos State generated the highest IGR with ₦204.51 billion within January and June. Rivers State came second with ₦64.59 billion while the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, realised ₦35.2 billion.
Others are Delta, ₦30.8 billion; Ogun, ₦23.7 billion, Yobe, N3.9billion; Gombe, ₦3.8 billion; Adamawa, N3.75billion; Ekiti, N3.2billion and Jigawa, ₦3 billion.
The report also said in the second quarter of the year, the states and the FCT made ₦259.73 billion, a dip from ₦353.14 billion recorded in the first quarter.
“This indicates a negative growth of -26.5% quarter on quarter,” NBS wrote.
