Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) and legal luminary, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has called for immediate dumping in jail of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, for contempt of the nation’s apex judicial institution, Supreme Court of Nigeria, over his contempt of court regarding the ultimate court’s order on February -10-deadline stoppage on old naira notes, last week.
Making the call yesterday, Sagay urged affected parties to initiate contempt proceedings against Emefiele at the Supreme Court without delay, believing that spending some time behind bars will make the CBN egghead realise the enormity of the “mess and merciless pain” the naira crisis has subjected Nigerians to, as he presently appears not to.
According to him, an order by the highest court in the land, rightly or wrongly made, must be obeyed by all and sundry until set aside.
