
The campaign convoy of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, was, this afternoon, Wednesday, September 16, gruesomely attacked by a gang of hoodlums in the Oba Akoko area of the state, a statement just released by the governor’s Special Assistant on New Media, Olabode Richard Olatunde, has said.
.Olatunde who claimed the hoodlums were strongly suspected to be supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, said Akeredolu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign train was on the way to Ikare-Akoko in continuation of the local government campaign rally “when the PDP struck and attacked the convoy of the campaign train, setting ablaze the branded campaign vehicle donated to Akeredolu campaign by Ambassador Sola Iji.”
The media assistant added: “The driver of the vehicle sustained bodily injury and now receiving treatment at a government hospital.”
Meanwhile, the PDP and its candidate, Jegede, are yet to give their own side of the story as at time of filing this report.
