By Inusa Ndahi,  Maiduguri

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state has; tasked the Secretary to
State Government (SSG) and Chief of Staff (COS) on service delivery
and accountability to the people.

Zulum gave the task while swearing in Alhaji Usman Shuwa
and Dr. Babagana Wakil as the new SSG and COS, and two Special
Advisers at Government House, Maiduguri.
He said that their appointments were based on their personal merits
and capacity to serve humanity at all levels.

“Therefore, all communications to my office and the conduct of
government must be routed to the office of SSG for necessary action on
direction, interpretation and advices,” he said.
He said that all programmes of activities must also be directed to
Shuwa, before publicity to ensure proper executional vetting of
projects and programmes.

According to him; “The SSG and COS will ensure that public servants
should be in their places of work as at when due.”
He said government will do everything possible to motivate workers for
effective service deliveries.

He warned that government will not condone absenteeism of either the
SSF or COS, including the commissioners yet to appointed.
“The most important that we shall look into, is to reduce corruption
to the barest level,” he said.

He urged them to improve the image and prestige of the Civil Service
with public confidence and capacity in service delivery for
development.
