Insists no Nigerian life was lost By Haruna Salami The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama on Friday met with the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs to review the the situation in South Africa. Briefing journalists after the meeting in the National Assembly, Onyeama said they weighed the various options and analised the situation in South Africa and agreed on a roadmap. According to him part of the roadmap from the executive arm is that President Muhammadu Buhari has sent an envoy to South Africa who is expected back in the country on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Minister has enjoined Nigerians to remain calm as government was doing all within its power to see that Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians is resolved once and for all, adding that any decisions to be taken will “take into account the overall interest of over 800,000 Nigerian citizens living in South Africa”. In his remarks at the briefing Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru said the National Assembly will work with the executive arm in the best interest of Nigeria.
