LIVERPOOL BOSS,JURGEN CLUB QUERIES CLUB CHIEF SCOUT HOW HE MISSED SPOTTING GABRIEL MARTINELLI

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Arsenal’s Brazilian signing, Gabriel Martinelli following some impressive performances and at the same time wondered how the Liverpool talent spotters missed out on the prodigiously talented footballer.

The Reds boss has been impressed with the work done by the London club and their technical director Edu after they signed the 18-year-old in the summer.Gabriel Martinelli put in an impressive performance in a thrilling Carabao Cup last week.scoring twice in regulation time, despite Arsenal losing to Liverpool on penalties.

Divock Origi scored late in stoppage time to make it 5-5 before Curtis Jones slotted away the winning penalty. But Martinelli once again impressed for Arsenal as he scored twice and could have had a couple more after creating some great openings. The 18-year-old is yet to start in the Premier League, but he has already notched up seven goals through eight games in all competitions.

Arsenal caught many other top teams off guard by signing Martinelli for just £6million in the summer.

He is already looking a steal at that price with plenty of time to develop his game in the Premier League.

  • Klopp is already an admirer of the young forward. The Liverpool manager called the Brazilian “really unbelievable”.

Martinelli has been a revelation since joining Arsenal. Relatively unheard of before signing, the Brazilian has become an important player for the Gunners even though he is only 18 years old.He has netted seven goals in eight appearances so far, including back-to-back braces in the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

It was in the game against the Reds that he caught Klopp’s attention, with the German suggesting he was the “talent of the century”.

Asked about his remarks regarding the youngster, Klopp told Brazilian television show Esporte Interativo two days ago: “It was not in this game only. I watch a lot of football, so I saw the Europa League games of Arsenal.

“He’s 18 years old, right? So our scouting department is all over the world and miss stuff like this, but I think Edu gets all the credit for that signing – he came from… wherever.

Martinelli is already a source of discord between the Brazzillian FA  and its Italian counterpart. The young footballer qualifies to play for Italy as a result of his Italian father, while he was born in Brazil by a Brazzillian mother.

Jorge Nicola , a leading Brazzillian journalist tweeted on 2 November to post a video detailing the history of the craze for  Martinelli, and added, “The story of Gabriel Martinelli, the new Brazilian phenomenon. He already surpassed Neymar, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Gabriel Jesus, Robinho … The boy who was from Corinthians almost moved to Palmeiras in January and is now disputed by CBF and Italy.”
