Juventus battling to protect 60 Cigarettes a -day Sarri from Coronavirus

Juventus are pulling out all the stops to protect manager Maurizio Sarri from coronavirus, as the Italian’s health is deemed to be a risk.

The former Chelsea boss, 61, is currently in self-isolation after two of his players tested positive for COVID19.

Defender Daniele Rugani was one of the first top-flight European footballers to be diagnosed with the virus earlier this month, and midfielder Blaise Matuidi also tested positive this week.

Sarri has not tested positive for the virus, but as a smoker who can get through 60 cigarettes a day he is quite susceptible to respiratory conditions and lung problems.

The former Napoli boss suffered from pneumonia at the start of this season, forcing him to be absent from the touchline for matches in August and September. Club staff were able to improve his health on that occasion, and they are said to be paying particular attention to Sarri during his self-isolation to ensure that any issues don’t reoccur.
