Jigawa, Kano Water Users Commend Buhari, Adamu on resuscitation of abandoned water Projects in domain

Village Heads and members of Water Users Association in Jigawa and Kano States have commended President Muhammadu Buhari for facilitating the resuscitation of their water projects over 17 years after they were abandoned by previous governments. They particularly lauded the Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, who, they said, was a willing tool in the actualization of this.

The villagers stated this, August 2, 2020, when the minister had come around on progress inspection of the work  at Gari Irrigation project, Kano State and Kazaure Water Scheme in Jigawa State, noting that they have never seen it so good.

Engr. Adamu who assured them it was part of his numerous ground breaking efforts  to revolutionize the sector via enhanced integrated water resources management, economic  diversification through water supply, irrigation and drainage, dams and reservoir operations, since assumption of office, told them the best is yet to come, adding that he was focused on leaving no stone unturned in deploying more of his ministry’s resources towards completing over 116 abandoned projects he met on ground on assumption of office, as opposed to initiating entirely new ones. This, he said, is a patriotic demonstration that, indeed, government is a continuum, urging them to take ownership of the various projects by ensuring their proper care and security.

Speaking with the project contractors, the minister who expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done so far, harped on the need to deliver them on schedule.

Responding, the village heads members of the Water Users Association gave kudos to the minister and his principal,President Muhammadu Buhari, and used the opportunity to invite the president to come personally for their commissioning, upon completion.
