Gov Zulum increases monthly allowance of Civilian JTF fighting Boko Haram Posted by: Mikail Mumuni June 5, 2019 Leave a comment By INUSA NDAHI, MAIDUGURI Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana umara zulum, on Wednesday increased the monthly allowances of members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) from paltry N15,000 to N20,000. He said the increase became necessary in view of the greater roles the CJTF and local hunters are doing in complementing effort of security agencies in the fight against Boko Haram and terrorism in the state and the north east in general. The CJTF was introduced by the former governor, Senator Kashim Shettima who have been of tremendous success towards the fight against terrorism in the last decade. Addressing members of the civilian JTF, vigilante and hunters at the Multipurpose Hall, Government House, Maiduguri, the governor expressed gratitude to all these groups for their role in fighting the insurgency. His words: “As responsible government, your efforts towards restoring peace to our dear state cannot be over emphasized. From now henceforth, government has approved the immediate increase of your monthly allowances from N15,000 to N20,000 beginning from this month of June 2019. “I therefore directed everyone of you to please open an individual account to effect payment as soon as possible. I want to also urged you to redouble your effort in the fight against Boko Haram and other criminal activities in our dear state and the north east in general. “My advice for you is to shun injustice and distant yourself from drugs abuse as Government is doing everything possible to better your lives”. Zulum said. He said already, he has provide additional operational vehicles to the CJTF to effectively cover and monitor activities around Bakassi Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps and ajilari areas which had witnessed deadly attacks by insurgents in the last one week, adding that an office accommodation will also be given to them for effective operations. Zulum also had a meeting with the police, State Security Service (SSS), Military Commanders, where all accepted to work and cooperate with these local volunteers end Lingering Boko Haram crisis. In their separate remarks during the meeting, Mallam Baba, Lawan and Mallam Sa,ad, Commanders of hunters and Sector 9 of CJTF thanked the governor for supporting their group and assured that they will do their best and work in unity with all the security arms to achieve success.
