Gov Fayemi To Give Artisans, Farmers & Entrepreneurs Credit Support

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has promised to provide loans and credit to support the growth of  Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the State before the end of 2019.

Director General of Ekiti State Micro Finance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA), Mr Kayode Fasae made this known during a one day conference organized by his agency tagged: “Entrepreneurship Development: A Catalyst for Growth in Ekiti State” in Ado Ekiti on Friday.

Mr Fasae told the gathering which comprised of the economic stakeholders in the state that, before this loan could be accessed, digital enumeration/mapping of all the entrepreneurs in the state would be done so as to ensure that the right people who needed funds to boost or startup their businesses are captured.

He noted that after the data collation of all the entrepreneurs, a capacity buildings training that would be anchored by the best brains in the country would be done in some major centers across the state.

In his response to the expectations of the entrepreneurs from the state government, Mr Fasae reiterated the staunch passion of Governor Fayemi to eradicate poverty and unemployment in the state through entrepreneurship development, capacity building, training, acquisition of short and long term loans and lots more.

According to the Honourable Commissioner for Investment, Trade and Industries, Mr Olusoga David, who was also present at the conference, “Governor Fayemi is working assiduously to turn the state around through home-grown capacity building, special intervention for the private and informal sectors, youth empowerment via agric business and lots more”. He further stated that the industrial revolution of the state is paramount to Mr Governor’s agenda and various initiatives are planned to attract investors to set up factories and businesses in the state.

While giving his remarks, President of the Ekiti Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chief Kola Akosile said that the event is focused on consolidating efforts of various bodies in both formal and informal sectors of the state so as to enjoy the maximum dividends of democracy. In his words, several loans are locked in banks especially in the CBN for qualified entrepreneurs to access, but it could only be done with certificates that would be issued to participants after the training in September. He enjoined all small and medium entrepreneurs in Ekiti State to participate in the planned registration for the government to get accurate data for qualification and disbursements of the facility.
