He make the pledge when he visited the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Teaching Hospital where he expressed shock at the deplorable state of the tertiary health facility. The Governor was taken round the hospital by Chief Medical Director, Dr Peter Adefuye who highlighted the challenges facing the hospital. The chairperson, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr Bunmi Fatungase, also told the Governor that the hospital’s capacity at inception was 100-bed but was later made to accommodate 320-bed without any improvement in it’s facilities and personnel. A visibly displeased Governor Abiodun wondered why the health facility was allowed to degenerate to the level it is currently despite it’s importance to medical students and patients. The Governor promised that he would step in to make the teaching hospital a reference point of excellence in the country in terms of of infrastructure, modern equipment and adequate personnel in addition to overhauling the Ogun State health sector.
