Ekiti :FRSC Gives Ultimatum To Motorists On Vehicles Without Number Plates Posted by: Mikail Mumuni July 13, 2019 Leave a comment By Adewumi Ademiju, Ado -Ekiti The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ekiti State has given Aug. 1, as dateline to arrest all motorists moving around town without registration of their vehicles. “We vow to arrest motorists who move around with unregistered vehicles, come Aug. 1, stresses that such vehicles pose security threats.’’ Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ekiti State Mrs Faustina Alegbe disclosed this on Thursday during a stakeholders meeting at the FRSC office in Ado-Ekiti. The commander said,“ Federal Road Safety Corps men would be on the road from Aug.1, to arrest motorists without registration and with no number plates.’’ She added that such vehicles would henceforth be impounded, which the drivers would be arrested and prosecuted in line with laws governing the state. She said the meeting became necessary to warn the motorists ahead of the dead line, Aug.1, to get their vehicles registered and get a number plates so that they won’t see them as enemy when the time comes. Alegbe said that the motives behind this were to curb criminality in our society, also for proper identification. The Sector Commander urged the representatives from the National Union Road and Transport Workers Union (NURTW), okada riders to take the message home to educate their members ahead of the set time. She added that faded and covered number plates should be replaced as well. The Secretary of the NURTW, Mr Olayioye Adeshina, promised to cooperate with the FRSC, saying that he would disseminate the information by getting across to his members to comply.
